THANKSGIVING WEEK: Preperation

25 Nov

So, I thought I would photojournalise the next few days. Thought it would be a nice fun little project during my mini vacation.

I am preparing to have some friends over tomorrow for Thanksgiving. The young lady and I figured out who was going to prepare what and so,, I started today!

I began by making two pies. One was My Beloved's favorite, cranberry pie.

The other was this other favorite, pecan pie. I feel like my pecan pie turned into a queish, it took three eggs and does not look anything at all like what I would purchase at a store. I forgot to take a picture of the pie before I put it in the oven, so here is a creative shot from the outside looking in.

Cranberry pie complected. I put too much sugar on top, but My Beloved will still love it.

Pecan Quish with chocolate chips. I cannot wait to show you a picture tomorrow of all of the melted chocolate chips on the bottom of the pie pan!! I hope it worked.

I also made some cranberry sauce, my mom's recipe. This is the orange after it had lost the battle with the grater.

Clean cranberries! I need to buy some more for My Beloved's birthday! He does not eat cake, he only likes cranberry pie for his birthday.

The sauce after all the ingredients are added.

The only picture in relation to the stuffing. Guess what, there is only onion powder in there!! YES! The perfect stuffing. (I hate onions, sorry onion fans).

My turkey was still frozen, and I need to start it at 7am. So I spent 2 hours tonight thawing the lovely bird. I am so thankful that God gave me wisdom to check on it and prepare it sooner. I would have cried tomorrow morning if I found out it was still frozen. Praise the Lord!

I used a wooden spoon to separate the skin from the meat a bit. I put fresh sage and butter inside those pockets. The house is going to smell so good tomorrow morning!

My bird is awaiting it's morning adventure! For now it will rest in the fridge, but tomorrow morning it will begin it's last day in my oven!

Whew. Well, I am finishing this post at 10:45pm (CST). I am tired, but looking forward to the fun adventures tomorrow morning. See all y'all tomorrow night!
